About mManager

Main Screen with a photo previewmManager is a m:robe© 500i manager.

mManager is a small replacement to Olympus m:trip© that manages photo and photo albums and on the next releases it will manage music, music albums and remixes.

Simple yet powerfull enough

I was most concerned on making a simple and lightweight tool that — most importantly — worked the way it is supposed to. I have made my best efforts to make the interface user-friendly and easy to use.

A little background

After the purchage of a 500i I was instantly left out of the rain because the [not so] great m:trip© software refused to work on my computer. I thought it was because I have Windows Vista© installed, but to my surprise, m:trip fails even on Windows XP©.

So, after having searched the web for a replacement for m:trip I was inspired on programing my own manager.

Background on me

I have been programming computer software since I was 13. It all started naturally, and the interest was growing fast. Starting with Visual Basic [version 4 if I'm not wrong], then going back to some DOS languages [like basic, pascal and cliper] and forward to Delphi [version 3] and more recent versions of VB.

In Brazil [at that time] that was the most up-to-date software tools I could put my hands on. I remember a duel of programing between me and a friend. That was who could do the best functional and good looking calculator [yeah! seriously]. Boys with toys. That may look silly, but that was the beggining of something much bigger than I could ever expect.

Nowadays I barely touch any of these windows development tools, since I have turned my attention to web programing. So my “mother thong” [so to speak] is PHP and MySQL and some action scripting in Flash.

Future plans, other than keep my work with websites and the mManager, includes 3D games and real time simulators. Also, on the web side of me, I will be developing some scripts and components for comon tasks on websites, such as pools scripts, rotating flash banners, plugins for packages [wordpress, phpbb, x-cart...] and etc.
